1. Tour Itinerary

Day 01 Arrival in Beijing
Arrive at Beijing airport or railway station. Our English-speaking tour guide will meet and welcome you at the arrival hall, and then you will be transferred to your hotel for checking in. Remaining day is free at your own leisure.
Day 02 Beijing (Breakfast + Lunch + Dinner)
Visit Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City (the Imperial Palace) and the Summer Palace. Enjoy the Beijing Duck Dinner. Optional program in the evening: Peking Opera, Kungfu Show or Chinese Acrobatics.

Tiananmen Square: Tiananmen was the front gate of Forbidden City - the imperial palace during the Ming and Qing dynasties. Measuring 880 meters in length and 500 meters in width, Tian'anmen Square is located in the center of Beijing; military parade takes place here on China's National Day.
Forbidden City: Also known as the Imperial Palace, it was the ruling center and living residence of 24 emperors in Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties. The Forbidden City is situated right in the center of Beijing, covers an area of 740,000 square meters, and has 9999.5 rooms.
Summer Palace: The largest and most famous imperial garden in China which is located in the northwestern outskirts of Beijing. The Summer Palace was first built in 1750 as a summer resort for the emperors in the Qing Dynasty. It was built in order to celebrated Emperor Qianlong's mother's 60th birthday, and survived from several major damages a couple of times in late Qing Dynasty. The most attractive sight in Summer Palace is the Kunming lake. You can take a boat to cruise it in the summer and enjoy skiing on the frozen lake in the winter.
Beijing Duck Dinner: Beijing Roasted Duck is renowned as the most delicious food of Beijing. The duck is hung in the oven and roasted by flame burning from fruit-wood. The finished duck is characteristic with crispy skin, tender meat and the fragrance from the fruit-wood.
Peking Opera: China's national opera and it is also China¡¯s traditional art. It combines music, vocal performance, mime, dance, and acrobatics. It arose in the late 18th century and became fully developed and recognized by the mid-19th century. Traditional opera is very popular among Chinese people, especially seniors. Nowadays, appreciting an authentic Beijing Opera Show in famous Liyuan Theater is a must-do when you are traveling in Beijing.
Day 03 Beijing (Breakfast + Lunch)
Take an excursion to the Great Wall and the Ming Tombs.

Great Wall Of China: Ancient military defence work. Construction of the Great Wall began during the Spring and Autumn Period to the Warring States Period (770BC-221BC), Badaling is the most famous and most-visited section of the Great Wall in China. Most travelers visit this section when they travel Beijing. This is largely because it is well maintained and provides smooth walking, while Mutianyu, Jinshanling, and the vertiginous Simatai require a full day's outing. A grand view can be enjoyed on top of the fortresses. Look into the distance; there is a sea of lofty mountains and ridges where the Great Wall arises from the clouds and rapidly runs out of sight into the horizon.
Ming Tombs: The Ming Tombs lie in a broad valley to the south of Tianshou Mountain in Changping County, about 50 kilometers northwest of Beijing proper. They are known as the 13 Ming tombs, as 13 out of the 16 Ming emperors were buried there. Construction of the tombs started in 1409 and ended with the fall of the Ming Dynasty in 1644. In over 200 years, tombs were built over an area of 40 square kilometers, which is surrounded by walls totaling 40 kilometers. The Ming Tombs are characterized by its large size, complete system, and intact preservation.
Day 04 Beijing - Datong (Breakfast + Lunch)
Tour to the Temple of Heaven and the Yonghegong Lama Temple. Have a Hotong Tour by rickshaw in the afternoon. Take the evening train to

Temple of Heaven: An example of China's ancient architectural art and the architectural structure for worshipping the heaven. Covering an area of 2,700,000 square meters, it is located in the southeastern part of central Beijing. The temple of Heaven was built in 1420 AD Ming Dynasty and then expanded and reconstructed. It was for emperors of the two dynasties to worship heaven and pray for rich harvest. Now, it has been a famous tourist attraction.
Yonghegong Lama Temple: Also named Yonghegong Lamasery, is the largest Tibetan Buddhist Lama Temple in Beijing. It was built in 1694 as a mansion by Kangxi - the second emperor of Qing Dynasty (1636-1911), for his son Yongzheng who is the third emperor. Lama Temple is consisted of by the archway, the Heavenly Guardian Hall, the Hall of Mahavira, the Hall of Eternal Blessing, the Hall of Dharma Wheel and Wanfu Hall with compound halls in the east and west. The Lhama Temple is a tranquil spot, except during the Spring Festival (Chinese New Year) when it seems all of China's Buddhists throng its altars to burn bushels of incense and pray for good fortune.
Hutong: The old narrow lanes where common people lived. Beijing Hutong has a history of more than 700 years, which is passed on from Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368). It reflects the real face of Beijing, and each lane has its own exciting story. So In many people's minds, Beijing is associated with hutongs. Beijing is the only city in China that has them. There used to be thousands of hutongs, lanes, alleys and courtyards in Beijing, forming the residential areas for local people. When visiting Hutong, you have chance to visit porcelain factory. Beijing porcelain is famous, especially cloisonne.

Day 05 Datong (Breakfast + Lunch)
Arrive Datong in the morning, our guide will meet you at the railway station. Tour to the Yungang Grottoes, the Huayan Monastery, the Nine Dragon Screen and Shanhua Monastery.

Yungang Grottoes: China's largest grottoes and world-famous treasure-house of arts and culture with 53 caves, with 51,000 carved statues and bas-reliefs.
Huayan Monastery: Built during the Liao Dynasty (916-1125 AD), it was originally the ancestral temple of the imperial family, offering sacrifices for emperors. The temple occupies an area of more than 16,600 square meters. Inside the monastery, there is a wooden pagoda which is 43 meters high. Under the pagoda is a 500-square-meter underground palace, which was constructed with 100 tons of copper.
Nine Dragon Screen: This screen was built for Zhu Gui who was the 13th son of Zhu Yuanzhang, the first Emperor of Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). This 600-year-old glazed-brick structure, 45.5 meters long, 8 meters high and 2 meters wide, was originally used for guarding the gate of the mansion of Prince Zhu Gui. In 2001, it was approved as one of the national relics.
Shanhua Monastery: The monastery was first built in A.D. 713-741 during the Tang Dynasty, the entire monastery is a well-proportioned, well-preserved complex. It contains more than thirty Buddhist statues sculptured during the Liao and Kin dynasties, the most noteworthy being covered in gold leaf.
Day 06 Datong - Taiyuan - Pingyao (Breakfast + Lunch)
Take morning train with soft seats to Taiyuan. Visit Qiao Family's compound, the Shuanglin Temple and the Pingyao Ancient City Wall.

Qiao Family's compound: Built in 1755, this well-preserved and exquisite structure used to be the residence of Qiao Zhiyong, who was a famous businessman during the Qing Dynasty.
Shuanglin Temple: A Buddhist temple with a long history. Inside the temple are more than two-thousand painted sculptures which arts are of precious value.
Pingyao Ancient City Wall: First built about 2,700 years ago, the ancient city wall was expanded in the Ming Dynasty. It was the most well-preserved wall among the ancient historical and cultural cities in China.
Day 07 Pingyao - Taiyuan (Breakfast + Lunch)
Visit the Ming - Qing Street, the Ri Sheng Chang Financial House, the Chenghuang Temple and the Tongxinggong ancient bank bodyguard establishment. Drive back to Taiyuan, visit the Jinci Temple on the way.

Ming - Qing Street: The street used to be the commercial center of Pingyao ancient city. The traditional and orderly-located shops of the Ming and Qing Dynasties are still well preserved.
Ri Sheng Chang Financial House: Ri Sheng Chang was established in the early Qing Dynasty. It was China's forerunner for organizing Chinese early finance system, handling remittance, money exchange, deposit, loan and other financial business.
Jinci Temple: Jinci Temple is the most famous of all the historical relics in Taiyuan, with an artistic combination of ancient garden and architecture.
Day 08 Taiyuan - Beijing - Departure (Breakfast + Lunch)
Take morning train to Beijing which takes 3 hours. City tour, visit Xiushui Market. Be transferred back to airport / railway station for your onward journey.
